Tichmatic Rain 1 1500FL are our smallest rainwater harvesting systems with tank capacity from 1500, 1800, 2400 up to 2600 litres.  These systems are designed to support environmental friendlines in water use and the reduction of project carbon footprint by minimising treated mains water use and a direct contribution to your SUDS (sustainable drainage system) alleviating pressure on storm drains and minimising potential for flooding by using rain water where it falls, thus the intelligent use of water. The harvesting of rainwater and using it for irrigation, toilet flushing and in washing machines makes these systems a desirable sustainable solution that automatically fulfil planning commission requirements on sustainability in terms of water use. Using these systems also enable you to get requisite planning commision points on sustainability thus they are officialy recognised in our environmental laws and regulations.

The Tichmatic Rain systems are designed to support Automatic Irrigation Systems and in most instances are supplied as a package with irrigation, although they can be stand alone systems. The system come complete with rain filter, pressurised pump station, controls, automatic mains refill with Cat 5 backfolw contamination prevention, as well as the optional UV system depending on water use. The minimum tank size on the Tichmatic 1 is 1cbm. (Featured picture is 1.5cbm Tichmatic Rain 1 with Rewater fl flat tank, other sizes are available in the Tichmatic Rain range)

Optional Extras

Automatic Fertigation unit bolt on ensuring precise delivery of nutrients to target zone, ensuring lush and healthy plants.

With rain harvesting, you can add UV Treatment for added safe use of long stored rain water. This a simple online bolt on that does not increase the system running costs but ensures any water borne bacteria is sterilised and made harmless. This is not much of a concern in the United Kingdom due to general low temperatures.

United Kingdom Average Rainfall by region and tank sizing:

The tank sizing is scientific and based on annual average rainfall per Met statistics and project roof size, however issues such as available space for tank housing, intended use of harvested rainwater, access for tank delivery and installation etc. all come into play when we design project specific systems. In many instances the tank can, on the outside look under or oversized to the untrained eye.

All the Tichmatic Rain systems come complete with float level switches to ensure mains water is used at the barest minimum and only when absolutely necessary in times of low rainfall and only to meet minimum system demand. All the automatic refill float level switches are set to meet the minimum system demand threshold thus leaving the storage vessel largely empty and ready to harvest any rain as it falls. Remember when you are harvesting you are not using the water but storing it for a use when there is no rain instead of drawing on mains treated water. This is the intelligent use of water and a reduction of your carbon foot print by minimising the use of mains treated water and a direct contribution to your SUDS (sustainable drainage system) alleviating pressure on storm drains and minimising potential for flooding by using rain water where it falls, thus making rainwater harvesting an environmentally friendly investment that also guarantees you points should you need them on CSH.

These systems as stand alone are powered with a Kit X that includes all the controls and pressurised pump station to make it all work. If it’s combined with the irrigation our versatile automatic irrigation systems computers integrates both systems easily to make a compact all automatic system all round. This is generally the way to go and a cheaper option as it ensures the landscaped areas are watered with a completely reduced carbon footprint while providing the desired landscape aesthetics.

Table 2: expected volumes of water collected in cubic metres can be found by checking your average rainfall (see table 1 above) against your roof area
source: Environment Agency

Rainfall (mm)  x  Building Footprint Area (m2)  x  0.9 0r 0.8 (Tile Roof or Slate/Stone Roof) = ARY

ARY x 0.05 = 5% ARY

To calculate the Annual Rainwater Demand (ARD) use the following calculation:

No. of Residents x 16,000 = (1)   Area of Garden (m2) to be watered (if any) x 60 = (2)

(1) +(2) = (3)

(3) x 0.05 = ARD

You are not allowed to instal a rain harvesting tank that is larger than the smaller of these two figures as the water will become stagnant and a breeding ground for bacteria, including Legionnaires Disease.

SOME OF THE MANY ADVANTAGES OF RAIN WATER HARVESTING :-

1. Promotes adequacy of underground water.
2. Mitigates the effect of drought. You can still water even when hose pipe ban is in force.
3. Reduces soil erosion as surface run-off is reduced.
4. Decrease load on Storm water disposal system.
5. Reduces flood hazards.
6. Improve ground water quality.
7. Decreases salinity by dilution.
8. Ground water is not directly exposed to evaporation and pollution.
9. Increases the productivity of aquifer.
10. Prevents ingress of sea water in subsurface aquifers in coastal areas.
11. Increases ground water table thus saving energy (to lift water).
12. Cost of recharging subsurface aquifer is lower than surface reservoirs.
13. The subsurface aquifer also serves as storage and distribution system.
14. No land is wasted for storage purpose.
15. No population displacement is involved.
16. Storing water underground is environment friendly.
17. Artificial recharge to ground water makes the same tube well work for a long duration.
18. Discharge of tube well improves.
19. Stops abandoning/defunct of tube wells.

Our Systems

All our systems are an assemblage of state of the art automatic irrigation technologies as can be found anywhere on earth, thus they are second to none. We have used our many years of experience to come up with these design specifications to make life much easier for landscapers to quote for the irrigation and rainwater harvesting element in their bids for landscaping projects, garden design and for the general public to buy systems supplied transparently with no hidden costs.
